Blind Services

Learn about us…

Here at CRIL, we have created a safe environment for Blind people and those with visual impairment where they can learn to live independently in their communities. Some examples of activities we provide are cooking classes, travel training, and peer support groups.

Our Services

Cooking Class

Each month, one of CRIL’s visually impaired or blind consumers will step up to be the chef for a cooking class. From ethnic cuisine to abundant desserts, CRIL helps to teach independence and confidence in the kitchen.

Travel Training

Blind Services has gone on many trips around Alameda County in order to teach its consumers the importance of independence with transportation. Through BART, the bus, and even Paratransit, CRIL’s goal is to help consumers be prepared to navigate through the city with ease.

Peer Support

What better way to get involved in your community by meeting people who share similar traits! Once a month blind and visually impaired individuals gather at CRIL to talk about their experiences and share stories that may enlighten those who listen. These groups range from people of all ages (young adult to seniors).

Assistive Technology
